Did you know that 200,000 tonnes of period waste is generated in the UK each year? Therefore the waste ends up in landfill or in the sea, rivers and beaches! With that, used tampons once they have menstrual blood on are no longer recyclable!
so, Meet Daye
I was very fortunate to have been gifted these tampons by Daye and having used them I can assure you I won’t be turning back to my normal Tampax.
Daye are a sustainable alternative to other tampons on the market. The tampons are made from sustainably sourced, unbleached, organic cotton. As well as being dye and pesticide-free. The applicator is made from sugarcane and can be recycled once cleaned, meaning they are completely plastic free!
Its a simple process, you can either take an online quiz that calculates which tampons will suit you and your period or you can choose to have all organic or CBD tampons. Once you have chosen, you can either get a box ranging from 12-18. It is a subscription service so you can set it up monthly. I don’t necessarily have bad period cramps, but for those of you who do, the CBD infused tampons are supposed to be really effective for period cramps and pain.
The first box comes with a stunning recycled aluminium storage tin for you to easily pop in your handbag and an organic, fairtrade storage bag too! The wrapper around the tampon is a protective layer from moisture and bacteria and is completely biodegradable and can throw into a food bin.
- The packaging is stunning, the storage tin is so handy for travelling and is perfect for popping into your handbag! It’s just something extra that other tampon brands don’t offer.
- The price is slightly higher than other tampons on the market but since its sustainable, it is within a reasonable price range.
- They are very comfortable, and have an easy application in comparison to others on the market.
- Not animal cruelty free, although this is something they are aiming to remove. They have had to do certain testing by law due to the use of CBD.
- 100% plastic free!

I hope this has been helpful and let me know if you get a chance to try them.
